Taiwanese Fried Pork

What you’ll need
INGREDIENTS
- 500g SunPork Fresh Foods Pork Loin
- Oil, for frying
MARINADE
- ¼ tsp. Chinese five spice
- ½ tsp. white sugar
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. mirin
- 2 Tbsp. water
BREADING
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup potato starch
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
SEASONING MIX
- ½ tsp. Chinese five spice
- ½ tsp. paprika
- ¼ tsp. chili powder
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. white pepper
- ½ tsp. white sugar
- ½ tsp. salt
How to make it
- Slice pork loin into steaks, then butterfly each piece. Cover in cling wrap and beat with a mallet to flatten.
- Place pork into a large bowl, sprinkle with marinade ingredients and massage into pork. Marinate for 10-15 mins.
- Place eggs in one bowl, then combine potato starch, cornstarch and baking powder in a separate bowl and place the breadcrumbs in another.
- Cover pork with flour mix and firmly press into meat. Dip pork pieces into the egg wash followed by the breadcrumbs.
- Rest for 5 mins.
- Combine all seasoning mix ingredients together in a small bowl and set aside.
- In a large deep fry-pan, fill with 3-4 cm oil and heat over med-high. Fry each side for 5-10 mins, turning regularly. Remove from oil and drain.
- Sprinkle with seasoning mix while still hot.
- Serve and enjoy!
