What you’ll need


  • 300g SunPork Fresh Foods Shoulder, diced
  • 300g green prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1½ Tbsp. Chinese five spice powder
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame oil + extra to serve
  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • ½ tsp. ground white pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 10 slices white bread
  • Sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

How to make it

  1. In a large bowl, place pork, Chinese five spice powder and 1 Tbsp. sesame oil. Mix until evenly coated then marinate for 10 mins.
  2. Transfer all ingredients except the bread, sesame seeds and oil into a food processor. Blend for 3 mins, then stir and blend for a further 3 mins or until you achieve a paste consistency.
  3. Spoon 2 heaped Tbsp. of the mixture onto a slice of bread and spread right to the edge.
  4. Pour sesame seeds onto a flat tray or plate. Take the bread and press firmly, meat side down into the sesame seeds.
  5. Heat a large deep pan with 2-3cm of vegetable oil to 180C.
  6. Fry the bread meat side down for 3 mins. Flip and fry for a further 2 mins.
  7. Remove from the heat and allow to drain on a cooling rack.
  8. Serve with a drizzle of sesame oil and enjoy!
