What you’ll need

INGREDIENTS

  • 1kg SunPork Fresh Foods Boneless Pork Shoulder
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • ½ tsp. Chinese five spice powder
  • ¼ tsp. white pepper
  • ½ tsp. sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Chinese rice wine
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp. red bean curd
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 Tbsp. molasses
  • 6 drops red food colouring (optional)
  • 1 bok choy, grilled
  • 2 cups jasmine rice, cooled

How to make it

  1. Prepare marinade by mixing sugar, garlic salt, five spice, pepper, sesame oil, Chinese wine, soy sauce, hoisin, red bean curd, garlic, molasses and food colouring in a bowl. Marinade pork for a minimum 2 hrs, or ideally overnight.
  2. Pre-heat fan-forced oven to 200⁰C.
  3. In a baking tray with a rack, add 50ml of water. Remove pork from refrigerator and place pork on the rack. Reserve marinade.
  4. Bake for 45 mins, basting every 10-15 mins with remaining marinade and rotating for even colouring.
  5. Remove from the oven and rest for 10 mins before slicing.
  6. Serve with steamed jasmine rice and grilled Asian greens.
