What you’ll need

INGREDIENTS

  • 1kg SunPork Fresh Foods Bacon Rashers
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. onion powder
  • 2 tsp. chilli powder
  • Toothpicks
  • 12 fake roses

 

How to make it

  1. Pre-heat fan forced oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper and place a wire rack over the top.
  2. Take two strips of bacon and place them on top of each other. Start tightly rolling from one end to form a rose. Secure with two toothpicks in a cross pattern close to the bottom. Place upright on the wire rack and repeat with the remaining bacon.
  3. Combine all the spices in a bowl, then sprinkle over the bacon roses. Place in the oven and bake for 20-30 mins until the bacon is cooked and crispy. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  4. While the bacon is cooking, prepare the rose stems. Remove the flower bulbs from the stem exposing a small wire, taking care not to remove any leaves. Clean the wire thoroughly.
  5. Once the bacon has cooled, carefully pierce the bacon onto the wire of the stem and repeat with all the roses.
  6. Serve to someone you love (that can include yourself) and enjoy!

NOTE: Remove the bacon from the stem before consuming to avoid any injuries.
